Tiffin is delighted to admit girls as well as boys into the Sixth Form, allowing the fantastic benefits and quality of Tiffin Sixth Form to be delivered within a mixed environment. We aim to admit around 100 new students each year to the Sixth Form, and we therefore expect about 50 per year to be girls, giving at least 100 girls in the Sixth Form overall, and representing approximately 20-25% of the total number of Sixth Formers.

Our Sixth Form Open Evening will be on Thursday 8 October 2020 when the academic and extra-curricular opportunities on offer at Tiffin's Sixth Form will be fully explained. Our website highlights the great opportunities at Tiffin, you can also follow developments on Twitter@Tiffin_School.

Well-known author visits Tiffin

28 September 2018 by

On Wednesday 19th September, all of Year 7 had a fantastic visit from the author Andrew Lane. Andrew is the author of the best-selling ‘Young Sherlock’ series. He came in to talk about his new book, AWOL (Agent Without Licence). The book is about two boys, Sam and Kieron, who end up helping a British Secret Agent working for MI6 when they find some high tech spy glasses.

We had an interview with the author and we found many interesting things about him, such as how he decided to become an author.  He started out as a physicist, but was then asked to work for the British Secret Service. He told us about his life working with the military and his current career as an author. He told us that his experiences and travels in life were his inspiration for his writing. He actually started writing books when he was 25 years old, and wrote books for the ‘Doctor Who’ series. The directors thought he would be perfect to write the books since he was a massive fan. He has also written scripts for Wallace & Gromit.

We really enjoyed his visit and are looking forward to his next AWOL book, ‘Last Safe Moment’, which is coming out soon.

Tiffin Choirs perform with the London Symphony Orchestra

28 September 2018 by

Many congratulations to the choir who have recently performed with the London Symphony Orchestra in some very prestigious concerts at the Barbican, being conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. This has been another tremendous opportunity for them, and with the Boy’s Choir, the Tiffin Girls’ Choir and our Tiffin Children’s  Chorus all performing.

“To open his second season as music director of the LSO, Sir Simon Rattle offered a challenging programme of British music. In addition to the London Symphony Chorus, we had here three Tiffin choirs (boys, girls and an outreach Children’s chorus).  All sang with gusto and exemplary precision.”  (Evening Standard review)

Year 13 leavers celebrate at All Saints Kingston

14 September 2018 by

It was excellent to be able to see the A level students for the last time as a cohort at their Leavers’ Celebration last night.  We were delighted to welcome Sir Anthony Seldon, Vice-Chancellor, The University of Buckingham, a contemporary historian, commentator and political author, known in part for his biographies of John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and David Cameron. He was  Master (headmaster) of Wellington College, one of Britain’s co-educational independent boarding schools.

It was amazing to recall the successes of this year group, and we wish them all the very best as they move on to university or employment and hope they keep in touch through the Tiffinian Association, which unites the alumni of the School.

Tiffin student takes gold as part of the England Fencing team

This summer Luca Plastow in Year 12 was selected to represent England in the Commonwealth Fencing Championships that took place in Newcastle in July. He finished tenth in the Under 17 Cadet foil competition and then fenced in the team competition. Luca and his team mates fought well throughout the event and reached the final where they took on an up and coming Indian team who had defeated the favourites Canada in the semi-final. The England team though held their nerve running out 45-22 winners to take the gold medal.
