Tiffin School's Careers Programme

Tiffin School is committed to providing a high quality careers programme, and excellent advice to our students. Through a range of exciting activities and different speakers, we aim to open up our students’ minds to a wide variety of career paths, to challenge their thinking and preconceived ideas on careers, to encourage their aspirations, and to give them tailored and relevant advice. We have invested in our own Careers Leader, Helen Varley, who has the role of Head of Careers. She is also our Level 7 qualified Careers Advisor, registered with the Career Development Institute, providing independent and impartial careers guidance for all year groups. Our Governor responsible for Careers is Mr S Satkunarajah.

Helen is the first point of contact for any questions or proposals about our careers programme. Parents, employers or education/training providers can contact her on 020 8546 4638 or careers@tiffin.kingston.sch.uk. Pupils and teachers can also get in touch by email or find her in the sixth form office or careers office, at school.

We have begun to use the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, see the link below, to improve our careers provision and are working towards meeting them by the end of 2020. We are also part of a local group of careers leads who are all working towards meeting these Benchmarks; sharing knowledge, experience and practice.

In addition to the Gatsby Benchmarks, it’s also important for students to develop skills and qualities that are relevant to higher education and/or employment. For students to push themselves beyond their comfort zone and realise what they can do. At Tiffin School we provide numerous opportunities, in and out of lessons, for students to get involved in new experiences and take the lead.
